GTA on minimum wage. Vicewave review

Everyone loves GTA! Probably every real gamer has a favorite game in this series. Therefore, I simply could not pass by Vicewave.

The project is announced for the Windows platform.

There’s a young, change-fooling James. At some point, his uncle gets tired of losing his authority because of the tomboy’s antics and decides to involve him in serious matters. This is how our various (who has the patience) adventures begin.

GAMEPLAY. ABOUT THE GOOD

The gameplay is a licked core of ideas from GTA, sawn in its own way and wrapped in low-poly, but nevertheless pleasing to the eye graphics.

The atmosphere created is wonderful. Big city, many points of interest. Many possible activities. Cool cars in some places. I quote the developers’ promises:

There are moments that simply infuriate and at this stage of readiness destroy all the good groundwork. Remember we were traveling with my uncle? Everything was fine until this happened:

Such a sad event happened because there was a pebble the size of two pixels on the road. I noticed him literally a second before hitting him. The result of the “collision” was that the car seemed to have driven into a solid steel wall. I tried to get out, turn the car over. The game does not provide for returning the car to its normal position. Quest machine – reboot.

Further. On the next trip another incident happened to my uncle. Some guy was hanging out at the gangster base. I decided to punch him in the face and knock out some cash, as always happened in GTA. Result – no cash or anything else, the NPC just ran off into the sunset at breakneck speed. But a cop appeared 10 meters away. Well, not bad, I thought, I’ll get hold of a gun. But where is it?. There was no fight, the cop just ran up and then what?? Same as always – dark screen, start the mission again.

The only good thing, which can’t even be called good, I found out – you can successfully run away from the cops. Entering a building resets their position outside and, as a result, gives the player the opportunity to run into the courtyards and wait out the chase. I think it’s absolutely stupid that what was done is that resting for several hours in a hotel (as well as entering the building) does not calm down the law enforcement officers. Also, the hotel does not have the usual opportunity to change clothes.

You see what I see in them? Not a single car drives through the city! Immediately catches the eye and evokes negative emotions. Cars are still parked on the roadside in minimal numbers. But that’s not the same at all.

The current save system is annoying. Yes, even in GTA, as far as I remember, if you failed a mission with a helicopter, you could start again – not from the very place where the mission was taken! For various reasons, it took half an hour to stupidly deliver the guy from point A to point B! In 2020, you need to understand that people cannot find these ten-, twenty-minute and half-hours endlessly. The save system needs to be made much more respectful of users’ time. Moreover, as if mockingly, there is a “Save” button in the pause menu. I hope it will be used for its intended purpose.

I’ll finish the description of the problems by demonstrating the achievement that I was given:

Let’s look at the pros and cons of the game and summarize.

+ Good GTA atmosphere, but with its own flavor.

+ Nice, albeit simple graphics.

+ Pleasant music and sound accompaniment. Cars have radios.

+ Good general concept of the world. We offer many activities.

+ Quite a lot of weapons, well-executed shooting.

+ Excellent Russian text localization.

– Poor system of implementation of law enforcement forces. Cops materialize out of nowhere next to our hero. They shoot at us like snipers across the entire block if we run away in a car.

– The save system should be redesigned to save players time. At least there should be saving of missions at checkpoints (they exist). In an amicable way – a save should be made at any time and as many times as desired, i.e.To. single player game.

– There are no cars on the street.

As for me, in its current form the game is practically unplayable. It’s painful to get through it now. But there is a big "BUT". The actual presence of a mountain of content gives hope for the final good outcome of the entire development. She looks interesting, it’s just the most interesting thing, hidden in a rather subtle, but infuriating (t.To. affects the passage) with a layer of bugs and ill-thought-out details. Early access was just announced to receive feedback. I recommend adding it to your wishlist and tracking the status of the project, it could turn out to be a cool game, t.To. problems don’t seem intractable.
